Rep. Hudson is a member of the Joint Committee on Everglades Oversight in the Florida Legislature. That assignment requires a thorough understanding of the dynamics that make up the Everglades and the restoration activities currently underway and on the drawing board. Rep. Hudson as well as 5 other Legislators recently toured the Everglades up close and personal. House District 101 incorporates 20% of the Everglades plus the the Big Cypress Preserve and Rep. Hudson takes that representation seriously as this area is truly a national treasure. The tour was hosted by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioner “Alligator Ron” Bergeron. “Commissioner Bergeron has a lifetime of understanding and passion for the Everglades area and it was an honor to hear his insights firsthand” stated Hudson.
The ceremony, held at the Broward county service center for Immigration and Naturalization Department of Homeland Security, incorpoarted new citizens from Broward and Collier County. The new citizens represented 39 countries spanning the globe. Rep. Hudson spoke of his families immigration through Ellis Island ,shared his favorite passage from the Declaration of Independance, and encouraged them to strive for excellence in everything they do because our country is depending on them. “Watching and listening to these wonderful folks take the oath of citizenship was one of the more moving patriotic experiences of my life”stated Hudson.

Our country and state depend upon the strength and integrity of our people. The community of Golden Gate will be in great shape if this most recent project is any indication. The community came together at Corkscrew Elementary to create a boundless playground so all children would have the opportunity to play regardless of physical disability. “Kids just want to play and have fun and a child with a disability is no different and should have the same opportunity”stated Rep Matt hudson. This playground was a multi year project that brought the commuinity together and will be treasured for decades.
