Public lands should have public access. Read about the most recent rally here in District 101 regarding the Big Cypress Preserve.

Representative Hudson believes that the Big Cypress preserve as estatblished by Congress in 1974 was never intended to have restrictions to access.The Congressional Act specifically allows access of all types including motorized. The National Park Service and the Federal Government are clearly violating the Congressional Act and trampling on citizens Second Amendment rights in the process.

Representative Hudson is a member of the Economic Development policy committee and has been a longtime advocate for job creation in the State and his District. Most recently he has been advocvating for a fair compact to be ratified for Indian gaming. This spring the Representative voted no on a compact he deemed to be punitive to the residents of his District as it would have prevented the creation of nearly 2000 jobs. The Representative has been very busy advocating for his constituents since the no vote and as a result it would appear that the community will in fact be the beneficiary of 2000 new jobs. Rep. Matt Hudson this week defended the public’s rights to have access to public lands. These lands are purchased with tax money and as such should allow for access to the person that owns them the taxpayer. This battle was regarding the The Big Cypress National Preserve addition lands and the desire to infringe on access and 2nd amendment rights by the National Park Service and Environmenmtal groups. “The plan is bordering on almost irrational behavior” stated Hudson at public hearing. Listening and learning at local Healthcare facilities.

Hudson toured a number of Naples healthcare facilities with Secretary Holly Benson of The Agency for Health care Administration listening to providers and learning the issues firsthand. “I just firmly believe that you cannont represent people unless you listen and talk to people everyday” said Hudson.
